Sproat Lake is a mecca for swimming, hiking, boating, camping, and...waterfront relaxation!

Located centrally on Vancouver Island, just 15 minutes west of Port Alberni in the Alberni Valley, awaits one of the warmest and clearest lakes on Vancouver Island. Sproat Lake hosts many activities including fishing, hiking, boating, swimming, and is also home to the largest water bombers in the world.  The lake has 4 waterways or arms to explore: there's Taylor Arm - which is quite remote and private, a great place for camping. Sterling Arm is the place if you like wake boarding and water skiing, and is home to the lakes ski and wake board school. Sproat Lake Arm is the main waterway to access the boat launch and is the most popular area. And then there's Two Rivers, a calm and private area which is great for an afternoon picnic or an overnite camping trip.

Getting to Sproat Lake is an easy and short drive from Nanaimo - approx. 1.2 hours from Nanaimo, and approx. 3 hours from Victoria.  Visitors from the  mainland can take BC Ferries across to Nanaimo and drive west to Port Alberni, then 15 minutes to the lake. Sproat Lake Cabin is easily accessed from Lakeshore Rd, which runs along the Northwest side of the lake. There is a general store which can be accessed by boat or land, and sells groceries, snacks, ice cream, and rental dvd's.  There is also a pub along the east corner of the lake which offers great food and great drinks. There is also a boat launch at the provincial park campground. We recommend bringing your tow vehicle and trailer back to the cabin, as the boat launch parking lot gets very busy in the summer.
